Dankrad Feist is an experienced blockchain researcher working at Tempo Labs and a Research Advisor to the Protocol Cluster at the Ethereum Foundation.

Dankrad Feist has made a number of contributions to the Ethereum protocol, including:

  • Led the development of Ethereum’s data sharding protocol, often called Danksharding
    • Making KZG practical for DA sampling thanks to the FK20 witness computation algorithm
    • Recognizing the importance of PBS (Proposer Builder Separation) to create a practical DA protocol
    • Solving the fee market problem by integrating DA with the existing EVM execution
    • Shipped December 2025 with the introduction of PeerDAS (EIP-7594)
  • Co-author of EIP-4844/Proto-Danksharding
    • Precursor to full data sharding implementation with PeerDAS
    • Shipped March 2024
  • Early research on fast confirmation rules for Ethereum
  • Pushed scaling of the Ethereum L1 from 2024, including early ideas for
    • Block-level Access Lists (BALs)
    • Erasure coding block data
    • Delayed execution
    • future scaling with zkEVMs
    • all of these are part of concrete L1 scaling efforts as of 2026
