About
Dankrad Feist is an experienced blockchain researcher working at Tempo Labs and a Research Advisor to the Protocol Cluster at the Ethereum Foundation.
Dankrad Feist has made a number of contributions to the Ethereum protocol, including:
- Led the development of Ethereum’s data sharding protocol, often called Danksharding
- Making KZG practical for DA sampling thanks to the FK20 witness computation algorithm
- Recognizing the importance of PBS (Proposer Builder Separation) to create a practical DA protocol
- Solving the fee market problem by integrating DA with the existing EVM execution
- Shipped December 2025 with the introduction of PeerDAS (EIP-7594)
- Co-author of EIP-4844/Proto-Danksharding
- Precursor to full data sharding implementation with PeerDAS
- Shipped March 2024
- Early research on fast confirmation rules for Ethereum
- Pushed scaling of the Ethereum L1 from 2024, including early ideas for
- Block-level Access Lists (BALs)
- Erasure coding block data
- Delayed execution
- future scaling with zkEVMs
- all of these are part of concrete L1 scaling efforts as of 2026
